Born from Love

Femi Cards is a fine art greeting card brand rooted in specificity. Every card is painted, named, and signed by founder and artist, Asha Flowers-Wright.

The name comes from a childhood memory: Zambezi Bazaar, an African gift shop around the corner from Asha’s home, where her parents bought all of their cards for every occasion. It’s where she first understood what it felt like to hold something made for people like her. It felt like love.

Zambezi has since closed following the ongoing gentrification of Leimert Park, but that feeling never went away. It followed her into naming her childhood cat, Femi. Yoruba for love me, a name plucked from the family’s yellow naming book and meant to attract more love into her life. Years later, it followed her again, into a company built to give people that same feeling: love, in physical form.

Every Femi card holds one story in a single frame. A hand held through grief. A lasting friendship born before marriage, kids and careers. A brand new face, already loved.

Femi Cards is proudly Black-owned. Woman-owned. Born from love.
